I love to meet with friends here when I am back in town. It is a nice, quiet atmosphere for talking and catching up with old friends. The food is very good. We often get baked clams and salads. Their creamy garlic dressing is about the best I've ever had. Very flavorful. The staff is friendly and efficient. As good as this place is, it is never very crowded when I go. Would highly recommend.

Buffet food was cold and had to ask to order the food from the menu. When the food arrived it was cold and tasted terrible. Manager was extremely rude. Don't waste your time or money.

Debated between 1 and 2 stars. Decided on 2 because the thin crust has a nice crunch to it. But then I went back to 1 because of the salad. There's just no excuse for it. Ordered the thin crust special (sausage, mushroom, green pepper, and onion) and although I appreciate the fresh ingredients I found the sauce to be really bland. Even the cheese had no flavor to it. Also ordered an antipasto salad which was disgusting. The veggies were ok-no brown wilted portions although they did give me the core/stem of the romaine so thanks for that. The reason it was disgusting is because the meats were gray!! Really? Totally grossed me out. That alone will keep me from ordering ever again.

Located in the corner of a parking lot off of grand avenue, Gianni's is easily missed if not for the red lettering denoting the "Ristorante" below. I cook for a living, and I love not having to do it for myself every night I have off, so my girlfriend and I often enjoy our favorite food in common together, Italian. Lately, we have been on a bit of a kick, and it was not until I finally went to Gianni's that I realized how much I loved the place. But I will get to that. Why I love this place. The area is inundated with Italian restaurants, but Gianni's stands out to me for two reasons. First, to my knowledge, the Chef makes everything in house (not sure about the pasta, but this is not $25 pasta night at Gianni's). Second, he features a very standard menu for the area while managing to include fare in each dish that only a trained chef could add and implement. While reading the menu, the first thing that caught me eye was his attention to detail for each dish expressed in the menu descriptions, which did not disappoint. I have enjoyed the pizza and appetizers on delivery many times (sausage and mushrooms for me please), and it remains my favorite in the area time and time again. My girlfriends family is hooked, and we are often greeted with moans of regret when we are the only people in the house with hot and fresh Gianni's pizza. Dinner Last Wednesday I finally took the time to enjoy a sit down dinner with my girlfriend, which galvanized my desire to leave a 5 star review. We were the only people in the restaurant near closing, and while quaint and minimally decorated, the small bar in the corner and open arrangement of tables made it comfortable indeed. Our server was delightful, despite my love of over conversation. The bread was fresh, olive oil quality, and the bottle of balsamic vinegar of modena supplied for my salad was to die for. My combination tortellini with vodka sauce was incredible, even for leftovers out of the fridge. Not only was it an excellent sauce for flavor and texture, but the petite tomatoes and slices of basil brought the dish to live with color and an extra layer of flavor. The panzerotti my girlfriend orders was the size of a football, and the molten piles of cheese and crispy crust kept her happily occupied. I recommend getting extra sauce if you choose this one. I will return to explore the menu again, and continue to order the pizza on a regular basis. I know there is a buffet available which I have not the opportunity to try, but if it lives up to the dinner and delivery, I would recommend. Don't miss this lovely "Ristorante"!

The restaurant is in a strip mall off Grand Ave and looks much nicer inside than I expected. Everything is clean and updated. The service was friendly and I appreciated the fact that our server was very nice and tactful. The food was very good. My father, who is picky about food, loved his dish. So did everyone else. Their marinara sauce is absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh. This restaurant is better than I expected, although, based on the Yelp reviews I knew the food will be good. I will be back for some more tasty Italian cuisine. If you like your food mild and lightly (but well) seasoned, this is definitely the place.

We shud have known when we walked in there was one table besides us. It took awhile for bread basket and when we received it had heels of bread and other pieces were sliced vertical for like a sandwich, and it was hard, they must have been scrounging around. The split pea soup was way to thin as if they were running out.. took two spoonfuls-done. The worst part was waitress never asked if there was a prob w soup she just removed a full cup no question! Really?? $2.75 for small meatballs, $2.00 extra for fries that shud come with a beef sand. I don't think they have meat sauce, it tasted like marinara sauce w ground beef thrown in. The "spe ial" was penne pasta w fresh tomatoes, that's fine, how bout not adding the hard top of tomato in dish, those should have been tossed out. Wud have liked to been told they ran out instead of poorly improvising. Waitress never asked if we wanted drink refills, or removed dirty dishes until we asked her to. Oh yeah, and it took over 45 mins for this.

I've been here twice in the past and it's always been top notch. My review is based on 3 visits. Gianni's is located in an older strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside. Upon recommendation from a local Chicagoan I tried this place a few years ago. Charming, intimate atmosphere on the inside. It is small and never seems to be packed. The service has never been phenomenal but was always adequate. The food is another story. Very reasonably priced and delicious. The veal piedmontese is my go to dish every time and never disappoints. Now have h said that this last visit was less than stellar. My boyfriend had the spaghetti and meatballs and he said it was ok but pretty bland. The salads were plain and not much more than lettuce and a few cucumbers and onion pieces. The mashed potatoes tastes instant though they did add some seasonings and herbs. Our waitress wasn't very attentive and never once came back to offer my boyfriend a refill on his soda or ask if we wanted more bread. There were only 4 tables so it wasn't like they were busy. I am willing to give Gianni's another chance on a future visit and hopefully it was just an off day for them. Seriously, try the veal though and thank me later!

We come here often. Everything is delicious. It is family owned and they are really nice. Try the cappuccino it is one of the best we had.

Pizza great. They even ask if you'd like fresh or canned mushrooms. And the canned ones are just as good. The dough it really good. Bake Italian taco is amazing. Great baked mostaccioli. Really good.

Went here for dinner for the first time last night. It was not crowded at all, so service was excellent and enjoyable. The bruschetta was the best I ever had. My dh had the chicken parmesan, which I felt was a boring choice considering other unique entrees on the menu. My linguine with mussels was excellent. Looking forward to going back to try something with their vodka sauce!

I came here for dinner last night because I saw the "People Love Us on Yelp" sicker on the window. I wasn't that big of a fan. The staff was friendly and attentive, but the atmosphere is just lacking. I felt like I was at a family party in my Nonna's basement. The restaurant is sparsely decorated with tables in rows and a small bar in the back. I had Fried Calamari for an appetizer and I was pretty disappointed. It was a petite serving for the price. Also, there was only one piece with the legs (my favorite) the rest were rings. The batter was pretty blah and the sauce was a little thin for my taste. The pizza bread was really good and the cheese tasted fresh. My meal came with minestrone soup and again I was not too impressed. For dinner, I had Chicken Piedmontese which was breaded and topped with bacon, artichokes and a cream sauce. It was really good... my one reason for giving Gianni's 3 stars instead of 2.

Nice friendly staff-great bread--could use some atmosphere. I felt like I was sitting in a stripmall store front (which it is in a strip shopping center). There were just about 15 tables a few pictures and a small bar tucked in the back. The white pizza was good, but at $12.50 for a small thin pizza, a bit pricey. Thin crust was good but over cooked so very dry (I mean you bite into it and it falls apart. The calamari portion was pretty small for the price and breading lacked taste, though it was cooked properly (not chewy). Saw the "People love us on Yelp" sticker so decided to give it a try. Gotta say that Yelpers are usually spot on, but not raving bout this place.

This is another decent place to get a solid meal in Franklin Park. The decor is a little outdated, but it is clean and the service is good. They have a full bar and some wines by the glass. The food is basic, homestyle Italian. No risottos or anything fancy, but decent food. The place is seldom packed, but they seem to do a great luch business . They have a very good, reasonable lunch buffet,I think it's $7.95, a little something for everyone and the selections vary daily. I am not crazy about the pizza, but the Eggplant and the lasagnas are very good.Nice selection of pastas and sauces and typical Italian dinners. If you are in the area, give it a try.I'm not saying to make a special trip, not that great, but still a decent meal.Avoid the fish meals, not fresh and overcooked.Stick with the pasta and you will be happy. They also deliver to the area-$1.50 charge Open Tuesday-Sunday, closed Monday Lunch BuffetTues-Fri 11AM-2:30 PM Open Tues-Thurs 11AM-10PM Friday 11AM-11PM Saturday 4PM-11Pm Sunday 3PM-10PM All major credit cards accepted Catering menu also available

Listen, when you work in Melrose Park, there aren't that many choices for lunch...Jimmy John's, Starbucks, Panera....ok, you don't have enough time to drive to Oak Park or Elmhurst and look for parking and you have a craving for some Italian, there's Gianni's. We couldn't decide on what to eat, I wanted Italian Beef, she's vegetarian... Gianni's covers both the meat lover and the vegetarian! We go there for lunch for 2 or 4 but usually we go there for birthdays (with the office) and they'll make us a veggie pizza, it comes with a drink and the buffet all for just under $10! They'll even prepare a special dessert item for the birthday celebrant. That works for us then we don't have to worry how to split the bill, everyone pays the same, no matter what they drink (coffee, tea, soda), plus tip of course! Haven't been there for dinner but would consider it a semi-romantic place near Melrose Park. They advertise lots of alcoholic drinks like the brat pack martini, I would go there just to check that out! It's OK for large groups as long as you make reservations so that they're prepared and they make enough food. They cook everything fresh so they make enough but not an over abundance if there's a large party (we're usually 8 - 20 at a time). We've been going there for years now and so far so good. The lunch buffet is offered Tuesday - Friday (11:30am - 2:00pm)

This place is delicious! I come here often for lunch with work friends for their lunch buffet. The salad is so good - i really don't know what it is, but I get so full from it every time I go! but of course I always have to keep eating the rest of the buffet with their yummy pasta dishes, hot from the oven pizza, and then there is usually chicken, eggplant and/or fish dishes as well. i've actually never had the soup there for some reason, but it looks good. The wait staff is also really nice and always remembers me when I come in :)

Cheap lunch buffet ($8.95) did not disappoint! Great soup and vodka sauce pasta. The buffet setup is interesting to say the least. Will come here again for the value and the food.

Love this place. The people there are always friendly and the food good. Everything is fresh. They don't put a ton out at a time and refill as needed. Everything tastes like homemade. I've never been for dinner only the lunch buffet. They have always been great when we've had a larger group and give birthday desserts to the birthday people. Make sure you call ahead if your group is more than 5 or 6 as they do get busy at lunch. The drink menu looks good, although I've never tried one. The price for the buffet (approx $10) is reasonable and includes a drink. If you're looking for a nice little place for lunch, this is the place to go. One thing to note: They are not open on Monday.

At first, lunch buffet didn't sound too appealing to me, but locals highly recommended this place for a fast lunch. Heck, why not. I was thinking fast food pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. Wrong! It's a small family oriented restaurant. When you first walk in, you are welcomed by a sign "please seat yourself". The buffet bar is to your left tucked away in a separate room. There's an assortment of salads and fresh fruits, bruschetta, cheese, 2 types of soup, and bread. For entree, there's the thin crust pizza (cheese/sausage), eggplant parmigina(my favorite), 2 types of pasta, chicken, meatballs, and sausage. There's even dessert which consisted of apple pie, chocolate cake, and pudding. Everything tasted great. Wasn't buffet quality at all. If you are in the area for work, stop by and enjoy a delicious, affordable dinner.

Gianni's is really great because it's Italian food, but I think they do things really uniquely and it's not just your average "run of the mill" Italian staples (although they have those too). I'm not Italian or anything, but they serve thing I've never seen before and it's always delicious. I go there for the Lunch Buffet, which is always delicious. We have also catered work related parties there as well and they are always very accommodating and professional.

Went here with some family members. From what I had it was very very good. Started off with fresh baked bread. The penne in Vodka sauce was phenomenal, I didn't know a meatless gravy could be so tasty and so good. The same goes for the Chicken Vesuvio, the potatoes were on point and the chicken was tender, flavorful, and juicy. All around this is an excellent Italian restaurant tucked away in a Franklin Park strip mall. But don't let that fool you, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I love, love, love Gianni's! My fiancee's family visits here almost once a week and the food is always good! I love the linguine with broccoli and shrimp in garlic and oil. They have a good selection of wine, beer and mixed drinks to go along with their varied menu. There is a daily dinner special and they serve a great lunch buffet. They also do a great pizza, and they will deliver it along with almost all of their standard menu.

This is a lovely place, with predictably good food. Waitstaff are friendly and considerate (I don't like my plate taken away prematurely!) and valet parking is available. Gianni's is now one of our go-to places for celebration (even the small victories!)

Thanks Dan, from Ace rent a car he recommend I come. I just got off the flight hungry and looking for a local pizza place joint to eat. I arrived and its a quaint establishment. The manager greated me and asked if I was ok. I made her aware I was a little hot and to my surprise she turned up the AC. Wow! I feel better after that. Vegetarian Pizza and Arnold Palmer hit the spot! Service was great and accommodating.

I love this place. I have been going here for at least 6 years now. Service is great and the food is amazing. The pan pizza is simply the best and they actually have some healthy options (not that I ever pick any of those). I would recommend this place to anyone.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
